Today we worked on the classwork that was started on Oct 12/13 and Oct 4/5. This was the last in class day to finish any of this work. If all work was done, students were able to work on their study guide for the test next class. (1st Block A-day had an assembly and therefore missed class so they will have Oct 18th to work on this)

Today we read an article on Healthy Living and answered some questions for warm-up. Ask a neighbor for the questions that we answer. Then, we updated Table of Contents and handed back papers. Next, students worked in groups on Unhealthy living Scenarios. Each group was assigned a scenario and they created a poster about it. Finally, students filled in a CHART by completing a gallery walk and gathering the information. You will have to get the information from a classmate.

For A-day classes, we went over the parts of the cell and took a pop quiz(students could use their notebook) but this was a way to make sure that everyone was at the same point in their notebook with the information. 3A and 4A completed a cut and paste on the functions of the cell. For B-day classes, we went over the parts of the cell and then went through the Macromolecules Organizer. I have put information to use below for the organizer. B-day also had a quiz and they had the cut and paste for HW. I have linked the worksheets and work above. It is hyperlinked and pink in color.

Today in class we finished the Cells/Microbiology Pre-test Analysis Sheet. This sheet will be used throughout the unit to continue to reflect on and monitor progress. If you haven't finished, make sure to get it finished as soon as possible. We then worked on the Introduction to cells worksheet where we learned the difference between prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Finally, we completed foldable notes that summarize the information on prokaryotes and eukaryotes.

Today in class students took a quiz on the Scientific Method. Once they were finished with this, they took the Cells/Microbiology Pre-test. The students had a chance to score this and then from that they analyzed their data. This grade is not something that will go in the gradebook. It is a baseline for where the students are with the material. After they analyzed, they filled in their mastery sheets for each standard/topic that is covered in the unit and on the test. If you were absent for this, you will need to schedule a time to come in and make-up both the quiz and the pre-test.
